The Most Significant Event in My Life Essays

The Most Significant Event in My Life Essays The Most Significant Event in My Life Essay The Most Significant Event in My Life Essay Exposition Topic: Maus The most critical occasion in my life One day, when I was lying on the bed and began to loosen up myself. Unexpectedly, an inquiry leaped out from my psyche. What was the most noteworthy occasion that I had involvement with my life? Right now that I was considering what was the appropriate response. An answer came in to my psyche. It was an excursion. It was my first visit, to a nation that I had consistently been told was my extraordinary grandfather’s country. It was a land I discovered not any more about than what the movement pamphlets let me know. Having come to Malaysia as a newborn child, I knew no other home or lifestyle than what I was utilized to in Malaysia. Nonetheless, my excursion to India in the mid year of 2005 was a critical occasion that made me see myself just as my general surroundings in a completely alternate point of view. It was very overpowering really; maybe I was pushing into another vortex, one with sharp scents of curry and saffron. It was an altogether unique air, one with snake charmers, palm perusers, and appealing strict ceremonies. Be that as it may, it was a situation with not all that alluring sights too. There were neediness and infection all over the place, people, anorexic because of absence of food and appropriate clinical consideration. Everywhere I turned there was somebody, youthful or old, man or ladies, so shriveled from yearning and illnesses that each bone on their body could be seen, so poor that they scarcely had enough clothes to cover their body. This is the genuine side of India, one of ailment and ailing health destitution. A nation, wherein antiquated illnesses like intestinal sickness, and tuberculosis are in presence, however come up short on control. Nothing is sheltered; water is polluted in this way, causing a perfect area for ailment. Obviously, there is the magnificence and conundrum of India, the riddle of the catacomb known as the Taj Mahal and the quietness one encounters by rehearsing yoga on the banks of the heavenly Ganges, just as other vacation destinations. Be that as it may, they are just vacation destinations. It isn't until I taken a gander at the genuine essence of the rustic side of India behind the concealment of traveler destinations, did I understand how fortunate I have been to get away from the neediness and wretchedness felt by a large number of Indians. I have consistently had a characteristic proclivity towards the field of medication, and for me taking science in my secondary school and it was the main course I really delighted in. I was one of only a handful barely any understudies who really foreseen the frog analyzation in the spring and tensely anticipated everything through the fall semester. Furthermore, when analyzation day showed up I was the first to put on those latex gloves, get a surgical blade and pin the frog down, set it in anatomical position and make that first cut. Because of my serious enthusiasm for science, medication as a profession was my desire. The outing to India had helped me to stick on my aspiration. Seeing the individuals in wretchedness, drained by the sickness and absence of prescription, is a sight that caused me to value my favorable luck. After this occasion or can be said as an adventuring trip, I felt that my life is far superior than those millions Indian and I felt that I’m so fortunate and I plan to help them in an amazing remainder.

How The Financial Crisis Has Effected Our Lives Finance Essay - Free Essay Example

In economies, the financial institutions take an important place. And try to be the most profitable corporations. They have plans, budgets and programs in order to be well organized and much better than any other institutions and have the right to be one of the worlds strongest economies. In my project I will discuss the global financial crisis and how did it affect the worlds economy. The financial crisis is a sudden breakdown in the world economy because of some mistakes in the workflow like using inefficient systems in the workplace and not having enough experience and information about the work of financial institutions. This can lead to many bad results and direct the world to a series financial problem like financial loss, price increase and lots of debts. It could lead to some diseases and attacks and sometimes to social crimes. However, global financial crisis took a big place in the world media. Everyone and every channel were talking about the crisis that the whole world faced. And each one stated his own opinion about it and what they think about that will happen to the world in the future. I hope my project to be well done and I hope that I used the best drafting techniques. Global financial crisis: what is a financial crisis? Its a crisis that is caused by a financial error and a decline in the banking system. It started in the United States in the middle of 2007 and reached to a high level in the last quarter of 2008. The global financial crisis caused a huge collapse in the financial institutions such as banks and stock companies. The government had to push the banks to stay alive and complete their activities to benefit other people and complete the work programs. The stock companies faced a large destroy in the cost of stocks and the rate of profits. The financial crisis is a decline in everything in the world that affected everyone in the whole world especially the ones who had stocks in the stock market and were depending on stocks to live and have a family. It could affect every single corporation and every business in the whole world. The financial crisis is a global problem that made many people to reconsider their lives again and sometimes have a new lifestyle and new rules of budgeting. What are the main causes of the global financial crisis? There were many direct and indirect reasons caused the financial crisis. It started with the mortgage crisis of real estates in the USA. And after that many other reasons affected the completeness of the crisis like: Political competing between countries, states and corporations. Some economic and organizational interests was mentioned that they were a hand in the happen of the financial crisis. Raw and inefficient financial systems. Including complicated financial securities. One of the causes is that some people were depending on the short term financial markets and go to invest there. It was wrong because the short time is not affective and will lead to a financial loss. Instability in the international trade that might cause a loss in the bad times although it might cause a benefit in the good times. The loss can be losing everything. Many other reasons like a rise in the number of debts for the financial institutions, setting some ineffective controls that makes the work more difficult and not easy to deal with which makes the success percentage lower and the profits less. What are the main effects of financial crisis? The crisis has affected many things in the whole world and caused many losses and problems to many institutions like banks. Banks had to lend people and companies money in order to get back to the market and stay standing. This money was given to the people and companies as loans. And this had affected the bank itself. No one is returning the money because they dont have profits they dont have enough money. All the money they have they were spending it on getting back into the market. So that banks faced a big problem that might cause a financial loss to the banks. The second result that is affected by the global financial crisis is that the prices of fossil fuel increased in a very high percentage. This can reduce the amount of production and let people try to look for alternatives like nature resources to make nature production. This might cause a financial loss to the fuel companies. Everything was affected in a very bad way from the financial crisis that is harming the world since 2007 tell this day. Many of the milliners lost more than 40 million dollars. Some people lost their homes, money, cars and everything they had. Managers announced their bankruptcy and closed their companies. The loss from the stock market reached to %46 of the whole budget. It was so bad that some people stayed without homes, their children couldnt go to schools any more. The global financial crisis has affected the whole world in a really bad way. There was a study that have made on the Nigerian economy about the effects of the financial crisis and they said that nothing stayed constant. Everything has changed even the prices of goods and services everywhere. The amount of export and import reduced. The quantity of production declined. Even the prices of transportation rose up. Nothing was good, nothing was suitable. Everything was going against people. So that every government was trying to intervene in order to solve the problem. And try to prevent the rise of every price for everything. It didnt reach to its goals %100 but still trying to maintain an appropriate environment for each layer of people. What are my opinion and other peoples opinions about the global financial crisis? What I do think so about the financial crisis, I feel that its the peoples mistake. Because they werent focusing well, and werent training well. They were just buying and selling without knowing how they have to do this. Some of them were giving the authority to the stock broker in order to buy and sell the stocks for him. My sister was working in a brokerage and securities firm. I asked her about the people who were coming to them for trading. She told me that the client just comes to the company and ask us to maximize his money. No matter what the way is. We just call him and tell him you will gain this, he says ok sell it. Most of our clients do this. They are not educated with the brokerage system at all. Some of them come without any experience. While others come to you and work by themselves, they show you that they are well known with the brokerage system. But unfortunately, the upper number of uneducated people disturbs the work of others and prevents them to trade in the original method. I searched the internet to find out some opinions of people about the financial crisis and what their expectations are what is going to happen in the global. Some of them said that they expect the world to maintain its success in the next 5 years, While others said that the worlds economy is about to fall in the whole and will not go out at all. As crystal, one of people who posted his own opinion about the crisis and said that you dont have to count your chickens before they are hatched. Others were defending the loss that happened and hoping that the world will be back. I visited my sisters company in Al Ain city and talked to MR Alaa Al zoubi the supervisor of Al Ain branch of Al Ramz securities. I asked him few questions about the financial crisis and what was their opinion and what were their clients opinions. He said that from the first time they knew that there will be a bad wind coming to the brokerage firms. So they backed- up in order to know how to deal with that wind. The most important thing they were focusing on and trying to deal with professionally was how to explain that to their clients. Of course some of them understood and made their plans while others didnt want to discuss anything which made a huge problem in the company at the end. After all, they could deal with the crisis with some losses but not disasters. Methodology: As an individual project, I used the internet to search for the definition of global financial crisis. Then I searched for the causes and effects of financial crisis. Then I posted my own opinion and what I found out in websites about peoples opinions. After that I talked about the interview that I did with some head of a brokerage firms. And after all concluded my project with discussing what expectations I feel that will happen in the future. Conclusion: Based on my research and sources I can say that Global financial crisis is a very big problem that the western and eastern world faced during the three years from 2007 tells 2010. Everything in the world was affected by the global crisis. Even people who are sitting in home and not working in any of the financial institutions. The increase in everything prices affected them in a very clear way, and still they are trying to face and overcome the problem. The governments tried and still trying to keep the world in the save side but no guarantees about what is going to happen in the future. I think that after few years the world will be back as successful as it was before and I hope my expectation to be right.

NCAA aAhletes and Pay - 1142 Words

Should college student-athletes be paid has become a much debated topic. The incentive for a student-athlete to play a college sport should not be for money, but for the love of the game. It has been argued that colleges are making money and therefore the student-athlete should be compensated. When contemplating college income from sporting events and memorabilia from popular sports, such as football and basketball, it must not be forgotten that colleges do incur tremendous expense for all their sports programs. If income from sports is the driving factor to pay student-athletes, several major problems arise from such a decision. One problem is who gets a salary and the second problem is how much should they be paid. Also, if the income†¦show more content†¦There would be no rush to graduate because the student-athlete is receiving free education, housing and meals as well as making money. College sports should be played for the love of the game, not for the love of money . If the NCAA decided to pay college athletes, it would create more problems than solutions. For example, if student-athletes are offered a salary, most likely the cost of school tuition will go up because the money paid to the student-athletes must come from somewhere and the revenue from sporting events and memorabilia will not be enough to cover all student-athlete salaries as well as expenses to run all the college’s sports programs. In addition, not all college sports draw the same fan base and therefore, income is greatly varied between sports programs which in turn will create an unfair balance when determining the salary for each student-athlete. All student-athletes regardless of which sport they are participating would expect equal pay. If the student-athletes are paid a salary, in addition to receiving a scholarship, which includes, tuition, books, housing and meals, it would be grossly unfair to non-student-athletes because tuition costs would be increased dramatically and ultimately be unattainable for the non-student-athlete. Without reasonable tuition costs, less students will attend and in turn this loss of

Compare and Contrast Melody and Structure in the Brahms, Debussy and Poulenc free essay sample

Brahms is a composer in which melody is not the key focus, but still does in fact use it to his advantage. As a romantic composer Brahms definitely uses the features of the romantic era in his music, for example, the augmentation of motifs. This happens regularly throughout the piece but specifically he does an augmentation of the x motif in bar 105-108. Another melodic feature that is present in this Piano Quintet is the use of ornamentation. This helps to create decoration to the melody line and is seen in the y motif at bar 109. The last melodic feature that Brahms predominantly uses is rests and staccatos. This creates a jerky melody throughout for the strings and piano to play. Debussy in contrast, uses smooth melodies, by using slurs, which is shown from the first bar to create his description of the poem. Another contrast to Brahms, is that Debussy uses solos and unaccompanied melodies in his composition and Brahms never lets a part play on its own. Debussy’s main and famous solo that he uses for the melody is in the flute at bar 1. Furthermore, he also uses whole tone scales to be able to create a different melody that has not been used before, and this is shown at bar 31 and 32 in the clarinet. Similarly to Brahms, Debussy decorates his melody, however not with ornamentation but with different rhythms so that he can add in extra note flurrys. For example, the rhythm in bar 3 in the flute, at bar 21-22 has been decorated with demi-semi triplets. Poulenc similarily uses ornamentation in the way that Brahms does in his piece, for example in bar 10 he has used a type of higher mordent. In addition, a melodic feature which is unique to this composition is the arpeggio figures, which is shown in the trumpet in the first three notes. This appergio figures helps us to establish what key we are in. Furthermore, just like the Brahms Poulenc makes use of our ability to make extreme dynamics for the melody, without having to add instruments. It starts off quietly until the fourth bar where it jumps to forte for three homorhythm notes. Lastly, Poulenc uses some chromaticism, just like Debussy. The chromatic melodic figure that appears in this piece is in the trombone in the Coda. Brahms is very particular about the structure of his composition also. The overall structure of the piece is Ternary Form, which is A-B-A or this case Scherzo-Trio-Scherzo. The Scherzo is a movement which is mean to be like ‘a joke’. This structure and Scherzo was influecend by the Classical period as we were still developing the romantic era at this time. Brahms, decides to experiment with the Ternary structure though, so within the Scherzo there are three themes called A,B and C, and these are formed together witha fugato section to form ABCAB Fugato BCAB. Furthermore, the Trio also uses its own Ternary form within itself with different themes. Lastly, the structure of the Fugato section is also experimented with to make it complicated and decorative to the listener, so Brahms uses a fugal subject and countersbujects at the same time and changes the points and instruments in which the different countersubjects come in. He ends the Fugal section with a Stretto, creating a extra part of structure, which uses fragmented ideas from previous melodies. Similarly to Brahms, Debussy uses a Ternary Form structure of ABA. Furthermore, within the A section there is two subsections and a transitions. You can tell each different subsection because there is something new going on in each section. For example, in A1 the main theme of the flute is present, to the transition where the instrumentation changes and the melody starts to get scalic, and then for the final subsection it has a significant difference of a new tempo. This is a comparison with Brahms because Debussy has also experimented within the structure but has not gone to the extent that Brahms has. Lastly, the whole structure is based on description. Debussy is trying to give a musical/visual image to a tone poem, and this helps him to create his structure throughout, because it needed to adapt to what was going on. The Sonata structure is not in fact in Sonata form, it uses a variation of Ternary form. Again like Brahms and Debussy, he does not just use ABA, but create a transition and a coda to go with this to create the structure of his whole piece. This is less ambigious than the other two composers but this is because Poulenc was heavily influenced by the neo-classical style. Moreover, to create a contrast within the piece Poulenc used extended phrase structures and distinct classical style phrasing to help him clarify his structure e. g. bars 1-4. In comparision to Brahms, Poulenc uses themes within his structure to give each section its own miniature structure, for example, in Section A, bars 1-21, there are three themes A (b1-8) ,B (9-17) and C (18-21). In conclusion, there reasons there are similarities between the pieces are because they are all in similar music periods. All it ranges from is the romantic period, where experimentation started to occur, to the 20th Century when experimentation was at its peak. Also, the reasons there are differences between the pieces is because of their own individuals styles and influences. Brahms is still influenced by the Classical period in some aspects due to being so close to the Classical Period, Debussy is in the middle of two periods so is influenced and his piece pushed the periods forward, and lastly, Poulenc was influenced by Neo classicism, and this shows all the composers influences are contrasting.

Be aware of your attitudes concerning people with gender-nonconforming appearance or behaviour (Thompson 20).† Being careful about attitudes towards transgender people with different appearances/behaviours is important in the support of a transgender friend or loved one, and can help you as well as them grow and develop in today’s society.Remember that there is no universal way to look or be transgender, and that many transgender people have membership with different identity gr oups, such as race, social class, religion, age, and disability (Thompson 20). Keeping an open mind to everyon. .ere turned away altogether, and 22% were sexually assaulted by residents or staff (Thompson 36).† On top of all of the discrimination faced by transgender people, they are now being denied homes? This is exactly what we mean when we say, as one voice, that society has quite some time before it grows enough to accept people who don t conform to the norms. The fight for equality is far from over, and the evidence is being shown. It’s truly unbelievable how much discrimination transgender people truly face. But, with more people advocating for transgender rights and equality, the fight can continue and society can continue to progress. Discrimination and bias faced by transgender and gender nonconforming individuals can be terminated with more support and a stronger fight. Let’s help society open its heart and becoming more accepting to the changing world around us.

The Soldier Within essays

The Soldier Within essays Tim O'Brien's The Things They Carried is not so much of a novel about the Vietnam War as it is a story about the soldiers and their experiences and emotions that are brought about from the war. O'Brien makes several statements about war through these dynamic characters. He shows the violent nature of soldiers under the pressures of war, he makes an effective antiwar statement, and he comments on the reversal of a social deviation into the norm. By skillfully employing the stylistic technique of specific, conscious detail selection and utilizing connotative diction, O'Brien thoroughly and convincingly makes each point. The violent nature that the soldiers acquired during their tour in Vietnam is one of O'Brien's predominant themes in his novel. By consciously selecting very descriptive details that reveal the drastic change in manner within the men, O'Brien creates within the reader an understanding of the effects of war on its participants. One of the soldiers, "Norman Bowler, otherwise a very gentle person, carried a Thumb. The thumb was dark brown, rubbery to touch. It had been cut from a VC corpse, a boy of fifteen or sixteen" (13). Bowler had been a very good-natured person in civilian life, yet war makes him into a very hard-mannered, emotionally devoid soldier, carrying about a severed finger as a trophy. The transformation shown through Bowler is an excellent indicator of the psychological and emotional change that most of the soldiers undergo. To bring an innocent young man from sensitive to apathetic, from caring to hateful, requires a great force; the war provides this force. Ho wever, frequently, the changes are more drastic. A soldier named "Ted Lavender adopted an orphaned puppy. Azar strapped it to a Claymore antipersonnel mine and squeezed the firing device" (39). Azar has become demented; to kill a puppy that someone else has adopted is horrible. However, the infliction of violence has become the norm of...

Literature Review & Project Specification Essay

Literature Review & Project Specification - Essay Example To date there are very few routes in the Internet that support fully ATM-based backbone transmission, fast routers, QoS (Quality of Service) services and/or un-congested bandwidth resources. Yet VOIP is already being used. VOIP can be viewed as an opportunistic parasite on the existing telephone system. This view will be further borne out as we examine other opportunities that have been seized by VOIP vendors. Circuit systems are not well suited for packetised data communications of the type that is generated by Internet services such as Web page retrieval. That is because a circuit-based network is not well suited for exchanges between rapidly changing endpoints. A fundamental limitation of a circuit-based network is that each user can connect to only one endpoint at a time. That is, by arrangement with the central office (by dialling a telephone number) the switch will be programmed to move every package of data you send from your conveyor belt to one other outgoing conveyor belt. There is no mechanism in this situation for individual packages to receive special treatment! Project Specification - Telephone or mobile is a technology that almost everyone uses in the home, at work or on the move. Traditionally, telephone is a simple one-to-one or one to many communication technology but it is now offered with enhancements that include video, chat, file passing and file sharing where suppliers are attempting to present a complete communication environment over mobile or landline. Due to his there is always a chance of misuse of communication via toll fraud. Toll fraud might be combated in several ways: user training, detection schemes, regular monitoring of internal extensions and issuing a personal authorization code for every employee according to the requirement and only then any long distance call be matured. Sending bills regularly to the employee and ensuring payment for the calls made for personal use. Intention - Educates on toll fraud and helps in its prevention. Project Title - Toll Fraud -Preventive Measures Project Topic Area Overview - Toll fraud and long distance calls abuse are the unauthenticated or illegal use of long distance telephone services offered by the legitimate companies. "They include not only those who steal authorization codes and use or sell them to others, but also any University employee who uses the University's long distance system for purposes other than official business" (ITS, 2006). It is against the rules and regulations of any legitimate telecom company to charge personal telephone calls to a company or some University account either by illegally using company's or University telephone authorization codes and company's or University credit cards. Their corresponding employers strictly subject this kind of unauthorized use of company's or University telephone system for toll calls to legal and disciplinary action. "Protect your company's internal telephone directory. Restrict use to employees only. Adopt strict distribution controls and penalties for failure to comply with the privacy requirements of your company. When finished with the directories, have them shredded" (Times Warner Telecom, 2006). According to Chen (2006) modern telephone system is "a newly defined protocol which supports all users but also is compatible with the current technology;

Mental Health Nursing Essay Example for Free

Mental Health Nursing Essay Case Study Report Jamelia I am so tired and drained. I feel as though my head is going to explode with all this pressure. You see I’ve been looking after my mother for a long time, she suffers from anxiety, the illness comes and goes, presenting itself periodically. Although I do worry about my mother I can usually deal with this, I have been for a long time but recently I’ve found myself worrying about my father as well. My father, usually a well presented and calm individual has been acting very strangely the past few weeks. I went round to visit my parents and check my mother was alright and he looked extremely unkempt, he looked as though he hadn’t shaved in a while, and he was wearing dirty clothes. I tried to keep things as light hearted as possible when I asked him why this was and out of nowhere he became extremely angry and defensive which is very unlike him. My mother has been telling me recently that she thinks he’s ‘losing his marbles’ as she puts it, but to be honest I just put this down to her own illness as this is often how it starts, my mother becomes worried about family members and friends when it’s really her who we need to worry about. I kind of put my father to the back of my mind for a few weeks and tried to concentrate on looking after my two children, which is a handful in itself, but then out of the blue at whatever time in the morning the phone rang, a police officer on the phone, she told me how my father had been found roaming around the street not an hour before, in his pyjamas no less. I was mortified, so angry at my father for his behaviour, but the police officer was very reassuring and advised me it might be a good idea to get in touch with my father’s GP, which I did and he put in a referral to the Community Psychiatric Nurse. I think he’s coming round during the week sometime to visit us. I honestly don’t know what else I can do, I am so stressed and run down by this whole thing I haven’t stopped crying, I just hope the CPN can do something to help, or at least give us some idea what the matter is so I can sleep at night. Community Psychiatric Nurse I received a referral from the GP recently asking for me to carry out an assessment on a Mr Hamed Khan who has been displaying behaviours that are a bit out of the ordinary, I also received a police report stating Mr Khan had been picked up for wandering around in his pyjamas in the early hours of the morning. There are many things that I have to rule out before I jump to the obvious conclusion which would be some kind of dementia, the rate at which I believe Mr Khan seems to have deteriorated at is staggering so if Mr Khan is suffering from dementia I would probably sway towards Lewy Body dementia, although, of course, I cannot make assumptions. I will wait until I meet with the family, i will ask them all questions, the majority will be aimed at Mr Khan to answer but I need to see it from everyone’s viewpoint and everyone will be entitled to join in any discussions we carry out providing Mr Khan is happy and willing for this to happen, then based on my observations and the answers i get from the family i will arrange some further tests to get a proper, medical diagnosis, if need be. Before i send Mr Khan for further assessment I will need to ensure a Urine Sample has been taken so we can rule out any kind of Urinary Tract Infection which could be the cause of any confusion Mr Khan has suffered from recently, this is quite often the case in older people they tend to get anxious and confused and this can, and often is mistaken for some kind of dementia. When I go out to visit the family i will ensure they are happy with having a male CPN, and I will meet all their requirements for this visit and all further visits, if necessary. Of course it won’t just be myself working to help the Khan family i will be just one member of a multi disciplinary team who will each have their own role in helping and supporting the Khan family. Sunita’s Needs Meeting Sunita’s needs is paramount in ensuring she is fulfilling her full potential. Sunita’s basic human needs have to be met. Sunita needs to feel loved, at the moment this may be lacking because everyone else is so worried about Hamed that Sunita may be being overlooked. Sunita needs to make sure she maintains her self-esteem, suffering from anxiety herself she needs to make sure she is looking after herself by making time for herself and not worrying about others too much. They say knowledge is power so it might empower Sunita if she was able to learn more about her anxiety, the causes, and all treatment options available so she can make a decision and choose how she would like to manage her illness. Sunita has the right to choose exactly what her own care plan will include, by getting involved in the whole process so it is geared to suit her as an individual and means she can still carry out activities she enjoys which can help her recovery. Hamed’s Needs No matter what the diagnosis Hamed’s needs are all very important, safety is extremely important particularly due to the night wandering and forgetfulness. Hamed needs to feel loved and respected as the head of the household regardless of his illness as this will help his self esteem, his appearance is an important part of this as well. As we have heard Hamed is normally well dressed and clean shaven, and we have to make sure this continues so Hamed still feels as normal as possible, a home carer may be an option to help Hamed get ready in the morning if he feels he would benefit from this. Every decision in relation to the care plan Hamed will be making himself as much as possible providing he is still able to do this and if not an advocate can be appointed, Hamed always has the right to choose. Hamed’s needs will be assessed using different tools of assessment, these could be shared activities, observations as well as meetings, using more than one method will ensure the care plan is as comprehensive as possible and meeting every need Hamed has, in a way he is happy with. Hamed’s physical needs will be met by encouraging him to continue doing physical activities he has enjoyed in the past. Socialising is a very important need, Hamed may be interested in going to a club or even attending a support group where he will meet and interact with people that he perhaps has something in common with. Stress factors for Jamelia There may be several different things which could be causing Jamelia to feel stressed. First of all she has to look after two young children with very little practical, hands on help from her husband. Jamelia also feels obligated to care for her mother when she is suffering from a bout of anxiety. Seeing someone you love and care for being distressed and worried is definitely going to be weighing on Jamelia’s mind. During the times when Sunita is unwell Jamelia is having to look after her mother as well as finding time to spend with her children which probably means Jamelia is feeling guilty, perhaps Jamelia feels she is neglecting her children because she has to look after her mother, all these conflicting emotions will cause a great deal of pressure on Jamelia. Even when Sunita is well, Jamelia has to deal with constant phone calls which may be waking her during the night, lack of sleep may be a contributing factor to the way Jamelia is feeling. As if this wasn’t enough for Jamelia to deal with she also now has to help with her father who is getting forgetful, confused and acting out of the ordinary. Hamed, who is normally a calm, strong man is changing in front of her eyes at an alarming rate, and is perhaps hard to recognise. Juggling so many things, Jamelia is probably not eating properly and not taking care of herself or making any time for herself. Support available for Jamelia, as a carer. There are many organisations out there who can offer practical and financial help to Jamelia as a carer. First of all Jamelia is entitled to a carer’s assessment. The law states that â€Å"anyone who provides or intends to provide a substantial amount of care on a regular basis can have a carer’s assessment. † A carers assessment will look at how Jamelia is affected by caring for her family, how much caring she can, practically, do while still having a life of her own, and having time for her children. There is also the option of getting someone else to care for Hamed and Sunita if and when Jamelia needs a break this can be in form of respite care, which comes in many different forms, for example, residential care where Hamed and Sunita can go for a short stay in a residential nursing home, as well as being good for Jamelia it could help meet the social side of Hamed and Sunita’s care plan as they will be meeting other people. There are day-sitting services which can be used for a couple of hours during the day, giving Jamelia a break, or a night- sitting service helping Jamelia get a proper night’s sleep. Financial help is available to help fund this particular help from local authorities and local councils in form of vouchers or direct payments. Word Count – 1675.

The Virtue of Men and Women in The Canterbury Tales :: Canterbury Tales Essays

The Virtue of Men and Women in The Canterbury Tales People never change. In every town you will always be able to find the "rich guy," the "smart guy," the "thief," and the "chief." It has been that way since the first man was swindled out of his lunch. Throughout his life, Geoffrey Chaucer encountered every kind of person and brought them to life for us in "The Canterbury Tales," a collection of short stories written in the 1300's. There are tales of saints, tales of promiscuity, tales of fraud, and tales of love. While reading, one has no choice but to come to the simple realization that nothing has really changed from Chaucer's time to ours. In "The Canterbury Tales" Chaucer depicted people from all walks of life. Society then had three basic classes of virtue that most people fell under: the Revered, the Commonfolk, and the Despicable. In the days of Chaucer, these people could be found in any village or town, just as they can be found today in our towns. Times were different then, but the people haven't changed a bit. Chaucer wrote of only three people who are deserving of the title "The Revered." These are the people who are always admired for their altruism, honesty, and kindness. They are proud and courageous with unalterable beliefs and unbreakable morals. Each of them may have a few harmless quirks, but are nevertheless revered. The most known of "The Revered" is the Knight. The Knight served in the Crusades where he fought for his king and the preservation of his beliefs in Christianity. Honor and virtue were reflected in everything he did. The Knight represents one of the most admirable characters in literature and is revered because of what he stands for. Though the Parson did not fight in the Crusades like the Knight, he also served God. The Parson was a man of the church whose beliefs in Christianity were unyielding. Decent and principled, he was a man devoted completely to his congregation. The Parson fully accepted the responsibility bestowed upon him to guard his people from sin. He said, "If gold rusts, what will iron do?" By this he meant that if the priest became corrupt, what would the parishioners do? As a parishioner and a brother of the Parson, the Plowman was a prime example of how well this philosophy worked. The Plowman is considered to reside in society's lowest class. Macbeth Newspaper Article Essay

The flow of blood stopped and History recorded a tragic death. King Duncan over ten years was the most trusted noble. He was a good and Godly man, friend to the poor and defender of the downtrodden. He had been given the title, â€Å"Thane of Fife†. But he is no more with us. Our King Duncan was murdered last night according to the Scotland police authority. King Duncan was assassinated during his stay at Macbeth’s castle in the early morning on (May 12). He died surrounded by those that loved him and his legacy will live on. Duncan’s two guards were considered the main suspects, but were slaughtered by Macbeth at the scene. Authority has conformed the two guards responsible, but has no plan to charge Macbeth either. General Banquo told the police, everything looked good in the dinner. Duncan seemed to have a pleasure time that night. He announced Macbeth and Lady Macbeth as the best host and hostess in the world and had several dances with Lady Macbeth. They had been celebrating until eleven p. m. late at night. When the celebration finished, his Highness King Duncan retired back to his room. Other witnesses also agreed with Banquo’s statement. However, in the next morning, Duncan was found dead in his own bed. Nobel Macduff was the one who has found the King’s body. Macduff told the police, he and Nobel Lenox arrived at the castle with some other servants around 7:30 am. Everyone in the castle seemed still sleeping at that time. They knocked the gate several times before the porter opened it. Then, Macbeth led two to the King’s chamber. While Macbeth and Lenox stayed there discussing the scary storm on Friday night, Macduff discovered horrible scene along. â€Å"O Horror, Horror, Horror! Tongue nor heart can conceive nor name thee! † Macduff cried (Pg 65, line 73).

Clinical Decision Support Systems ( Cdss ) - 880 Words

Clinical Decision Support Systems (CDSS) can be described as information systems to improve the decision making ability of people interacting with it(Nià ¨s et al., 2010). Hospitals with integrated Health Information Systems (HIS) are encouraged to utilize CDSS(Jonathan Teich, Saldana, Levick, 2012). Multiple fragments such as Electronic Health Record(EHR), laboratory information system, Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE), radiology information system and pharmacy information system combine together to form an integrated HIS(Nià ¨s et al., 2010). Each piece of the HIS is essential to generate proper CDSS suggestions in the form of on screen alerts, that have been found to be most effective(Shojania et al., 2009). Diagnostic laboratory testing has been steadily increasing over time in many medical settings all over the world. Hence, proper laboratory testing is crucial for better patient health(van Walraven Naylor, 1998). Laboratory testing of patients can be inappropriate , and mostly it is repetitive testing(Neilson, 2004). The integrated HIS itself can also be a factor in encouraging repetitive examination, it can be based on different factors such as, when there is a disconnect between the HIS workflow and the physician’s workflow, test ordered in another department may not be shown in another department, tests taken by the patient at a different location of the same hospital group, patient recently taking the test in a different hospital group(Koppel Ross,Show MoreRelatedClinical Decision Support Systems ( Cdss )1985 Words   |  8 PagesClinical Decision Support Systems (CDSS) can be described as information systems to improve the decision making ability of people interacting with it (Nià ¨s, Colombet et al. 2010).
